Recently, Thornehope took part in a focused exchange hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham), centered on foreign investment services and the business environment in Jing’an District. The session featured a dedicated presentation by the Jing’an District Development and Reform Commission, including an overview of the Jing’an Global Service Provider Program.
We were glad to hear directly from district officials on how Jing’an is approaching international business. The discussion covered policy support, industry clustering, enterprise services and international support systems, offering a practical view into how the district is working to attract and support foreign investment. The direction is clear: building a business environment that is efficient, transparent and aligned with global expectations.

At Thornehope, much of our work sits within cross-border contexts, where policy, environment and experience all shape outcomes. Conversations like this help clarify how those factors are evolving. There is a noticeable shift toward more proactive service delivery and more experience-led engagement, particularly in how government and business communicate with international stakeholders.

During the visit, we also toured the Jing’an International Reception Hall and its supporting meeting facilities. The space reflects strong operational thinking, from layout to flow to international readiness, and is well suited to high-level exchanges and global-facing events.
For clients operating across markets, this kind of environment, where policy, platform and experience come together, plays a role in building both confidence and momentum.
