The Thornehope Annual iDREAM Challenge Is Underway

A Strong Work-Life Balance Is the #betterwayforward to a More Fulfilling Life

Thornehope’s 2025 iDREAM Challenge kicked off last month, launching six months dedicated to personal growth and everyday progress. Now in its 14th year, the iDREAM Challenge (July 1–December 31) encourages THPers (Thornehope employees) to pursue meaningful lifestyle goals that support a healthier, more balanced life.

The program helps participants define their aspirations and build an actionable plan to move forward—one step at a time. With encouragement from colleagues and a shared sense of purpose, THPers will explore what matters most to them and commit to getting better every day. It’s all part of the #betterwayforward.

Participants can choose from a broad range of personal growth activities, including running, biking, weight training, yoga, meditation, cooking, photography or crafts. Each THPer is encouraged to pursue what inspires them. With the freedom to follow their own path and the tools to track meaningful progress, everyone has a chance to make this experience truly their own.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about showing up, setting goals and moving forward, one day at a time.

As a company, Thornehope fosters a workplace culture where encouragement, openness and support fuel personal development. Sharing progress with colleagues creates a sense of connection that makes every milestone more rewarding. At its heart, the iDREAM Challenge is about the courage to keep going and get better every day.

As added motivation, the top iDREAM points earner will receive an Apple Vision Pro, a next-generation mixed-reality headset offering immersive AR and VR experiences. All participants will receive recognition and rewards for their effort and commitment.

“Euphoric Misery” and the Joy of Chasing a Dream: Scott Ragsdale’s English Channel Swim and the #betterwayforward

 Scott Ragsdale Swiming challenge

In the darkness before dawn on approaching his 40th birthday approached, Scott Ragsdale waded into the icy English Channel with nothing but faith, grit and a small crew to guide him. For fourteen relentless hours he battled towering waves, numbing cold, deep fatigue and a body that begged to quit. What carried him was not muscle alone but willpower, encouragement from his crew and a refusal to stop short of France. At times the horizon never seemed to move. At others he believed the end was near, only to learn later he was not even halfway. Through vomiting, burning shoulders and crushing exhaustion, he discovered what he called “euphoric misery,” the joy of chasing a dream while enduring punishing pain. When he finally set foot on French soil, broken and shivering, the triumph was not in a photo or a speech but in proving that if you want something badly enough, you can make it happen.

Scott’s idea of “euphoric misery” reflects the same spirit that powers Thornehope’s iDREAM Challenge, a journey where effort becomes progress and progress becomes purpose. Whether you are swimming the English Channel or working toward goals in fitness, wellness or creativity, the path forward begins with the choice to keep going and keep chasing your dream.
